And Then....

In my room there is a door that leads up to the garage. Because my room is in the basement and it has this door, it tends to be incredibly cold all the time. I sleep with at least 2 quilts and 2 fleece blankets all year round. In the winter I usually sleep in a pair of sweats, a long sleeve shirt, an over-sized hoodie, and at least one pair of socks. Because it gets so cold, and because I never use the door to the garage, I have plastic window insulation stuff covering the whole door. Having the plastic on the door helps to keep things a little bit warmer, and the bugs stay out.

So I was reading in my scriptures last night before heading to bed. Depending on the night, I will either read at the kitchen table, or sit cross legged on my bed.

Last night was a cross legged on the bed night.

I was reading in Jacob 4 and had already written a few things down in my journal. I got to verse 8 which says:

"Behold, great and marvelous are the works of the Lord. How unsearchable
are the depths of the mysteries of him; and it is impossible that man
should find out all his ways. And no man knoweth of his ways save it
be revealed unto him; wherefore, brethren, despise not the
revelations of God."

So being inspired by this verse I went to write in my journal and wrote "'Great and Marvelous are the works of the Lord.' Take time to look around and recognize God's hand and all of his creations in your life. Set a goal to appreciate God's creations more. 'My God, How Great Thou Art'"

And Then....not two seconds after I finished writing this in my study journal, I looked off to the side and saw a spider crawling on the bottom of the door that is covered with the previously mentioned plastic. Thankfully, because of the plastic the spider can't really get in to my room, which means that I didn't need to panic. But you can bet that I sat and watched that spider for a while and was pretty bugged (and slightly amused) that of course right after I write that I need to appreciate God's creations more this spider has the nerve to show up in my room.

I'm sure someone on the other side thought it was pretty funny, and I bet the spider enjoyed it too, but me? Not so much.

  1. I say appreciate the spider before you step on it.

  2. I agree! I think I would have followed your counsel if the layer of plastic wasn't protecting the spider from my shoe, and me from the spider!
